I’m a full on blow dry junkie. This isn’t new, I have been for YEARS! There was one summer back in the late 90s where I let my curly hair go wild, but that was really it. Since, I’ve been blow drying it straight-ish, and when I want to sport a curly coiff, I use an iron or my favorite of all tools, the RUSK Curl Freak.
This summer, my entire family went to a lake house in Muskoka, Ontario for a week of luxe cottage time. I knew my days would involve gym visits, swimming in the pool, lake, and sweating in the summer sun. When you have a kid, there’s no way to take a refreshing dip in the pool and NOT get your hair wet. They’re crazy splashers even though you politely ask them not to. There was no way I was going to blow dry my hair every day, only to have it get wet and need to be redone, so I said F-it: we’re going au-natural.
My husband has insanely amazing hair and swears by one product: Redken Rewind 06. I brought some of my own potions like Hairstory’s Hair Balm and Oribe’s Curl Gloss and they were okay, but honestly – Redkin Rewind 06 won out, here’s why:
The smell is awesome. It’s not too fruity or floral, it smells clean and light.
It has great hold and isn’t sticky. I hate hate hate hair products that you can actually feel in your hair, in a bad way. This melts into your hair and does what it’s supposed to – piecey medium hold that adds a glossy sheen.
It washes out easily which is SO important. It doesn’t leave residue on your hair, it rinses right out after use.
The price. If you read this blog, you know that I tend to veer in to silly price ranges for beauty products, but this one is only $19.50! And Ulta constantly has a buy two, get one free promotion on this tub of awesomeness, which is fab.
You’ll be seeing some more posts related to curly hair in upcoming days/weeks because I’m really giving it a try. Beachy, undone, texturized waves are here to stay as a viable style, so if you were born with it, this is the time to embrace it.
