A couple of years ago, there was a “no-poo” revolution sweeping the hair washing world. I wrote about it a little here, after trying Oribe’s Cleansing Crème, but I’ve always been a little skeptical. There’s something about a really good lather and foam in the shower that leaves my hair feeling undeniably squeaky clean. Truth be told, I haven’t really used the Oribe Cleansing Crème because of the build up it leaves when used more than once in a row.
Last week, Refinery29 wrote about a miracle product that makes your hair a better of version of itself, called Hairstory’s Hair Balm. Naturally, I clicked through and bought it immediately. Who doesn’t want an amped up version of their hair? Ummm…no one. Then, I started reading about Hairstory’s New Wash, a detergent-free cleanser that washes without stripping or drying out your hair. It falls within the “no-poo” category of shampoo since it doesn’t foam or lather, AND you don’t need conditioner, so my expectations were meh. Regardless, I ordered it to give it a whirl.
Both products arrived, I gave them a try, and the results were AMAZING. I love them. Remarkably, my hair felt really clean after using New Wash. And, hair Balm left me with a frizz-free and controlled mane despite the humid 90 degree day we had in Chicago yesterday. Neither product broke the bank, and if rationalize the expense (which I ALWAYS do), think about all the cash you’ll save by eliminating the purchase of a conditioner!
The true test will be how my hair holds up after multiple, consecutive washes with New Wash – I’ll be sure to report back. But in the meantime, I’m a huge fan. You can read more about Hairstory here and here. Give it a try!
