I’m a huge fan of al the “Best of” recaps that are published throughout December. I scour the lists feeling awesome that I, too, discovered some of the products, while at the same time making lists of stuff to try. Everyone does this, right?!
Refinery29‘s list was especially great this year — you can read it here. In one (now unknown) list, Shu Uemura’s Color Lustre shampoo and conditioner was mentioned. I’ve always been intrigued by this line with the tag line “The Art of Hair.” Their products are on the premium side in terms of $$$ and ingredients, and everything smells fantastic. Think of Shu Uemura as a direct competitor to Oribe, another one of my favorites, as evidence from the many posts where I cover their products.
I’ve washed my hair with Color Lustre once and I have tell you — it’s just lovely. My hair was bouncy and frizz free, and
shiny with a noticeable gloss that doesn’t weigh my hair down at all. And the scent — musky rose vanilla. Yes. You want this in your mane.
Given the spend, I was happy to discover that a little goes a long way. I used WAY too much shampoo during my wash, which I didn’t realize until it lathered up. Will likely cut my next dose in half. Same with the conditioner, which detangles great, and only with a quarter-sized dollop.
Shu Uemura has a ton of different collections: oil-based, moisture-rich and a volumizing line for fine hair. I received a sample of the latter with my purchase, so stay tuned for a write up as soon as I try it.
All in all — super impressed.
