Ask: <Phone rings on drive to work, approx 745am> “Babe, I used your Malin+Goetz Lip Moisturizer this morning and just looked in my rearview and I’m all sparkly. It looks like I’m wearing lip gloss.”
Answer: “You probably used too much, but there are tons of balms that don’t have shine, that are great for boys…”
(Naturally, I start listing them off…I was interrupted and told that he didn’t need all this info…and which point I berated him for starting a beauty product conversation with me and…what did he expect? Naturally I’m going to delve in full steam with dozens of product recos to help the issue he presented me with. I told him NOT to start a beauty product conversation with me unless he actually wants to have one. Needless to say, the conversation ended abruptly. Pffffft.)
I get it – some guys aren’t into having a shiny lip, but really need moisture. I truly appreciate the effort, as do most (all?) girls and guys out there. Here are some great options for your buds and hubs that don’t want to “sparkle”:
La Mer – The Lip Balm: A cult classic. Mildly minty. Little goes a long way. It’s a tub, so you have to put your finger in there, which some dudes can’t stand, but it does the job beautifully and with much class.
Kiehl’s Facial Fuel No-Shine Moisturizing Lip Balm: Here’s your perfectly portable, matte, low key – and low cost – option. Again, not too minty or fragrant, it provides great hydration that has pretty good lasting power.
L’Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Lip Balm: Organic (for guys that dig that). Natural scent. Great moisture. A little more fancy because it’s French 🙂 I actually adore L’Occitane’s entire Shea Butter line – it’s amazing.
And there you have it. Promptly share this post with the men in your life that don’t want a shiny lip, but want sweet, soft, puckers.
