I rarely, almost never, get zits. I know, I know… you kind of hate me for it, but my skin is normal-dry and just not prone to break outs. When I do get a zit, it drives me INSANE. I can’t leave it alone: I want to pick it, pop it, obliterate it – THE WORKS. This, naturally, makes it worse and causes the zit to be red, irritated, bigger and more prominent which is exactly the opposite effect I was going for. Sigh.
After I go through my usual freak out, I always turn to one product, which is a total life saver: Mario Badescu’s Drying Lotion. Really, as soon as the zit arrives, I should reach for this wonder product first, but I always forget to. So silly.
Overnight, the zit shrinks. My explanation is that the drying lotion sucks out all the gross of the zit so it shrivels up and gets ready to die and disappear. I’m sure there’s a better reason for why it works so well, but I personally don’t have it, since this isn’t my area of expertise. All I know is that it works wonders.
A couple of things to know about it:
Don’t shake it. You’ll really want to because it’s a mix of an oil and a pinkish liquid, but they’re supposed to be separated. To use the product, you keep it upright and stick a Q-tip in there and then dab the zit with the liquid.
It’s so cheap – $17 – and it lasts for ages. I’ve had that trusty bottle in my cabinet for ages and it doesn’t seem to go bad.
It doesn’t smell great, but really, did you expect it to? It’s sucking the life out of a gross zit!
