Over the past week, I’ve been cycling through all my favorite perfumes, but nothing’s been doing it for me. They’re all a little floral, a little musky, and a little fantastic (a lot fantastic, actually).
Back when I was in college, I was an Angel wearer. It was a really unique scent – musky and sweet and almost chocolatey. It became my signature scent, and I liked that. Years later, people used to tell me that whenever they smelled Angel, it reminded them of me.
Your sense of smell is such an interesting one. It transcends time and can bring you right back to somewhere and someone at that first whiff. I’ll always associate my mom with Poison or Régine, the scents she wore when I was growing up. I’ll always associate my sister, Niki, with Chloé.
What’s your signature scent? What do you want to be known for? Do you switch perfumes daily or seasonally or stick to just one? I’d love to know in the comments.
Last week, I was sniffing around the lower level (Barney’s, of course) and stumbled across a sweet and musky little fragrance called Daphne, a collaboration between Daphne Guinness and Commes des Garçons. It was delicate and floral but also had a base note of oud – so contradictory, but amazing. I’m thinking it will become my new summer scent…starting later this morning. If you’re within range, let me know what you think when you smell me walking by!
