Once upon a time, my dad used to buy my mum household items as presents for occasions like her birthday and Mother’s Day. I vividly remember my dad gifting a metal bowl intended for fruit. I’m shaking my head now, over 25 years later, thinking about it. After an intervention from my sister and I, he clued in and started buying proper prezzies like jewelry and vacations and other sorts of awesomeness. Well done, Daddy!
I’m one of those people that LOVES their birthday. I count it down and enjoy every minute of “my day.” A couple of years ago, I realized that there was indeed a better day than September 22 and that day falls on the second Sunday in May: Mother’s Day. I love it because it’s a shared day with so many women out there who live, love, laugh (and cry) during mommy-hood. And, the beautiful thing about Mother’s Day is that everyone knows it’s “our day” so wherever you go, people treat you with loveliness.
My poor husband now has two major annual events to contend with – well, three if you count our anniversary. To help him out, I created a secret board on Pinterest called “Gift Ideas” with live links to items on my wish list at a variety of price points. Genius, right? Wait! I can sense you all fleeting to Pinterest to create your secret boards. Finish reading the post, please!
I have quite a few amazing suggestions for sparkly things on Pinterest, but here are a few of my favorites for this year. They’re timeless, a propos for the occasion, and amazing layering pieces. Go on, splurge! And, if you act quickly you can get free 2-day shipping from my favorite spots like Barney’s New York and Ylang23.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there 🙂 XO
